Research interests
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Oceanography and Geosciences (LOG) in Wimereux, France. In the broadest sense, my research interests are related to explaining marine macro-ecological patterns and processes. During my PhD, I investigated global latitudinal variations in marine copepod diversity and the environmental and physiological mechanisms that are responsible for maintaining these patterns.
A large part of my current research consists of investigating the biogeography of body size in marine copepods and its relevance for ecosystem functioning. We are particularly interested in the link between copepod diversity, community body size structure, and the potential influences of a changing climate on both properties. This project is funded by a Marie Curie European Reintegration grant (FP7-PEOPLE-2010-RG).
Another aspect of my current research involves the development of methods and the application of novel tools to derive food web indicators under the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD). In collaboration with Dr Gregory Beaugrand and as part of the working group on Descriptor 4 (food webs) of the MSFD, we aim to adapt and implement the food web indicators to evaluate the Good Environmental Status in the French part of the English Channel and the Celtic Sea.
